Cuckoo Pint are a group of folk musicians who came together
at the folk music sessions held at the Cuckoo Inn, Hamptworth (… hence the
name). Whilst they have only comparatively recently started playing as a band, they have been involved in the music scene
around Romsey and Southampton for more years than some of them would like to
remember, performing in bands such as ‘Man in a Brown Hat’ and the ‘Woodlands
Village Band’, playing at the Romsey Beggars Fair and numerous pubs and other
local venues.
Cuckoo Pint’s playlist includes a wide range of songs and
tunes, contemporary and traditional, from both the UK and ‘across the Pond’;
from covers of ‘Show of Hands’ and Steve Earle, to songs by Ewan McColl, ‘The Spinners’ and the singer/songwriters of the 60s and 70s.
Between them they share the vocals and play acoustic guitars, fiddle, mandolin, mandola, bass ukulele and accordion (plus the occasional whistle).
